Midland Institute launched another successful first; The 1st Annual National CEO Trade Show

Effingham, IL-June 19, 2015/

-The CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) program, which began in Effingham, has now expanded to dozens of communities in four states. CEO programs now serve communities in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, and Missouri and will expand to 28 programs this fall.

On June 15, from 4:00-6:30pm, the first National CEO Trade Show took place at the Keller Convention Center in Effingham. Two students from each of the CEO communities were invited to bring their top businesses to Effingham for the showcase and a chance to win a $2,000.00 prize for the best business.

This year’s National Tradeshow was full of diverse businesses owned and operated by entrepreneurial young adults. These dedicated young executives brought their products and services filling up 25 booths and drawing in a crowd of 500+.

Businesses featured at the show included photography services, private cheerleading lessons, n-home pet sitting, in-home lighting services, auto detailing, custom jewelry and key chains, cookbooks, candy stuffed teddy bears; flavored tea, body scrubs and lotions, razors, mobile phone cases, spotting scopes, and replacement screens for iPad’s and cell Phones.

At the end of the night, it was Zachary Watterson from Kokomo, IN who walked away with the $2,000.00 prize for the best business. Zach’s business, “Textrel” is the future of car mats.
