CEO Students Tour Gordon Electric Supply

CEO students had the opportunity to tour Gordon Electric Supply, a business with over 70 years of history in Kankakee county. We visited their corporate branch, located right here in Kankakee, which serves as the company’s headquarters. Gordon Electric also operates additional branches in Mokena and Pontiac, expanding their reach across the region.

CEO Mike Gordon Potter graciously welcomed our group and shared the inspiring story of Gordon Electric’s growth, legacy, and continued commitment to customer service and innovation. Gordon Electric Supply delivers high-quality electrical products with professional service and support for industrial, commercial, and residential projects. Their experienced team is committed to helping customers make the best purchasing decisions.

Gordon Electric’s mission is to be the trusted first choice for customers by offering exceptional service and support. Their core values—Teamwork, Reliability, Compassion, and Resourcefulness—create a workplace culture focused on collaboration, trust, empathy, and problem-solving.

Joining Mike were two key members of the Gordon team: Nelson Gowler, Branch Manager, and Sheri Ritchie, Human Resources Manager. Both shared insights into their roles and the inner workings of the company, giving students a better understanding of leadership, operations, and the value of strong internal culture in a successful business.

We’re also proud to share that Mike serves as a mentor in our CEO program this year, and we are deeply grateful for his time, guidance, and ongoing support of young entrepreneurs in our community.

Thank you again to the team at Gordon Electric Supply for your hospitality and continued investment in the next generation of leaders!
