Business Visit: University of Illinois Extension - AJMPU Unit

This morning, our group had the opportunity to visit the Vienna Extension Office and learn from Jody Johnson, County Extension Director, Kristi Stout, 4-H Youth Development Educator, and Dena Wood, 4-H Youth Development Program Coordinator.

Jody kicked off the visit with an engaging activity designed to help each student discover the “superhero” within themselves. Students wrote descriptive statements about themselves and their classmates, which were then used to generate unique “workplace superpowers” through AI. This exercise encouraged self-reflection and helped students better understand their individual strengths, as well as how they complement others—an important skill when communicating your value in interviews and professional settings.

Kristi and Dena followed with interactive activities focused on the importance of effective communication. Through hands-on, creative challenges, students experienced firsthand how clear communication plays a critical role in successfully completing projects. The activities reinforced that collaboration is a part of nearly every career path, and strong communication is essential for achieving shared goals.

We appreciate Jody, Kristi, and Dena for providing an engaging and meaningful experience that helped our students grow in both self-awareness and teamwork skills.
