About Me

My name is Katia Zanger, and I am a senior at Quincy High School.

Most people don’t know that my twin sister and I run a hair business out of our home. I have been doing hair for almost as long as I can remember. Even before I came to the United States, I was doing hair. I can remember helping the nannies in the orphanage in Haiti do the hair on the younger children, and that didn’t stop when we were adopted and moved to the United States. After a while, my mom brought up the idea of starting a business.

I liked the idea right away—I enjoy doing hair and making people feel confident and pretty. Plus, I knew that there was a need for it here in Quincy. That was three years ago, and I still enjoy doing hair.  

I wanted to join the CEO class because there are a lot of opportunities in the class to learn from the mentors and guest speakers that come to the class. I feel like I can learn so much from their personal experiences about how they started their own businesses and what they learned along the way.  I want to go to college, and I want to study business. I like the idea of running my own salon, but I can also think of so many other businesses I would like to have. My dream job is to have my own business of some kind, and I hope the CEO program can help me with that.
