🌱 Learning from Community Banking in Action 🌱
The West Central MN CEO students recently had the opportunity to expand their network with a visit to Kensington Bank. A big thank you to Justin Schnichels, Jessica Carlson, Ben Peterson, and Melissa Straus for welcoming our group and sharing their experience in community banking.
Our students learned how a community-owned bank operates differently than larger institutions. While every bank has similar products, processes, and people, Kensington Bank emphasized a key principle:
➡️ “Everyone has products and processes — we focus on having better people.”
During the visit, students explored the many departments and services Kensington Bank provides and how those services support local businesses, families, and entrepreneurs throughout West Central Minnesota.
💡 Key takeaways from the visit:
• The importance of strong people and relationships in business
• The do’s and don’ts of building a solid business plan
• How community banks act as a community multiplier by reinvesting locally
• The value of being community-owned and community-invested
Experiences like this show our students that successful businesses are built not only on strong strategy—but also on trust, relationships, and commitment to the community.
Thank you again to the Kensington Bank team for investing your time and knowledge into the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs in West Central Minnesota!
