Entrepreneur Justin Johnson Sr. invited Gateway CEO into his shop on Monday! Justin has been in business since his early 20s and operates three different companies today - Cleaning and Building Management Co, Logistics Company and Barbershop. Justin shared his story of growing up in North City and the challenges that come within living in a single household. The challenges however, have not kept him from succeeding in life and building a family that holds high standards in every area, including the opportunity to be a D1 dad! Justin had a lot of wisdom to share with our students. Here are a few highlights:
- Life and business - It's not where you start, but where you end! It's not about what you come from. It's what comes from you!
- Who Moved My Cheese - was life-changing book and will help you as you walk through adversity in life.
- There are 3 types of people - Pro-active - see it before it happens. REactive - As soon as things happen, do something about it. No Action - just let left happen! Be in that top 10% as often as possible!
- When CARE drives your decisions in business, you will always be able to help others and always be able to make money as well.
- Collaboration puts you in the best situation for long term success.
- On this journey of entrepreneurship - Be curious. Ask a lot of questions. Have courage. Be creative. Be consistent.
Justin captures his story in his book Holding Space in the Barbershop. Life of a D1 Dad. It definitely inspired our students as they headed out the door for a new chapter in just a few weeks! Thank you Justin!
